Efteling

From the battlefields of Belgium we finished our Europe tour in yet another Theme Park, this time Efteling. Our most expensive stay of the trip but oh so worth it. We booked to stay in one of the Woodland Houses which are a short walk away, and on site of the theme park. I image it is a little like Centre Parks? Little detached houses, brick built, in a huge forest like area. Ours came with 3 bedrooms, a living room with furniture and fittings not entirely dissimilar to my own home, a kitchen and and two bathrooms. An outside seating area completes the scene. You could if you wish enter your room at 4pm, visit the park same day, the next two days, and again on the day that you leave, once you have packed your belongings up into your car and vacated the house. Such a good system. We bunnies however took the opportunity to check in, relax, order home delivery of the best pizza we have had in months (sorry Italy) and spent the evening with Pizza and Netflix. Perfect.

Efterling. Whilst I consider Efterling to be a theme park aimed for children, there is certainly a lot to keep older bunnies occupied as well. There are excellent rollercoasters, crazy small rides, brilliant water rides, and great food. I could list every ride, what we did, the routes we took and what we ate, but doesn`t everyone view a park differently? With information about anything just a finger touch away, when my blog gets old your information will still be fresh and new. There is nothing overly scary at Efteling, and Arthur the ride is just so much fun.

If you are looking for thrill seeking rollercoasters and hair raising rides, maybe this park isn`t quite what you are looking for, but families? absolutely.

Cologne. With every intention of visiting Cologne, the Cathedral, the city itself, prior to flying home from there, we didn`t. Truth is we were tired, burnt out and simply could not find the motivation to walk a half mile to the railway station, to get a train, to trail the city, and do it all again to come home. The weather is just so hot with a heatwave boosting temperatures, and tempers. A very challenging trip at times, and Cologne will just have to wait for another day.....or not.

Here`s looking at you Ryanair SuperBitch!! A quick note on how our trip ended.

We have flown countless times, over many years, with the same suitcases, IT luggage, using Ryanair and just about every other budget airline going. Absolutely no issues. Lets face it, we flew to Poland, the start of our trip with Ryanair, and those suitcases. Yet according to the stuck up, power hungry super bitch at the gate of Cologne Airport, our cases were now too big!!. Too big to fit in the exact same luggage sizer that stands at every Ryanair gate flight. I would be absolutely delighted to name and shame that money grabbing frosty faced cow, but like any bully she would not give her name. Not just us, there were at least 4 or 5 other passengers donating £75, no doubt all going to fund her enrolment in charm school. Cologne Airport. You are a Ryanair Joke.

Our tour is over, the bunnies are home. A fabulous trip but not without its challenges.

About Me/Us

We are two older prematurely retired bunnies, not overly fit, with slightly wonky body bits but who have a passion for travel. We decided age is just a number and why should  only the younger generation feel the thrill of backpacking with nothing other than a carry on bag and a map. so, Here goes nothing!
